The People’s Company is a community theatre company open to Southwark Residents. It aims to give local people a voice in the future of the community, empowering creativity and giving members a voice in Southwark’s creative scene. People’s Company members have the opportunity to explore acting, directing, writing and the mechanics of theatre such as lighting and sound. You don’t have to have studied theatre or had any experience, people with all abilities are welcome and the emphasis of the group is about having fun. Covid-19 put paid to our 2020 live performance plans (including Macbeth, in association with Shakespeare's Globe). Were we daunted? Not us! We've gone online and, along with the rest of the world, discovered Zoom. We managed to transfer rehearsal and performances to Zoom and our recent projects have included: Opening Doors: the online version of what was supposed to be the Opening performance of the new Southwark Playhouse. Mayflower 400 History Tour: our animated Bus tour to celebrate the 400 year anniversary of the Mayflower sailing. Evening of Monologues We meet every Tuesday evening from 7.00 – 9.00pm in the Tiny at Southwark Playhouse Due to Covid our rehearsals are currently held online. |
Are you a Southwark resident and interested in joining? Send us an email through our contact page!
